Raymond F. Muzic, Jr., PhD is a Professor in the Department of Radiology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, with additional appointments as Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Case School of Engineering and Professor of Oncology at the School of Medicine. He serves as Scientific Director of the Quantitative Imaging Laboratory and is a Member of the Cancer Imaging Program at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Dr. Muzic's research spans multiple therapeutic areas including cancer, cardiac, and diabetes research with specific interests in quantitative imaging, analysis and modeling, optimal experiment design, metabolic imaging, cancer imaging, and cardiovascular imaging. His work focuses on quantitative analysis of biomedical imaging data, physiologic modeling, assessment of new radiopharmaceuticals, imaging response to therapy, and in vivo quantification of receptor concentration. He has also developed the COMKAT software for quantitative analysis of biomedical image data used to support research and teaching.
His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on integrating machine learning with medical imaging technologies, particularly in the areas of MR-guided radiotherapy, dual-energy CT mapping, and PET/MRI applications. The research shows a consistent theme of developing innovative methods for image analysis and quantification to improve diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning.
