Dr Balachandran Muniandy is a Senior Lecturer at La Trobe University's La Trobe Business School, affiliated with the Department of Accounting, Data Analysis, Economic and Finance. He joined in July 2007 after prior roles in accounting public practice and academic teaching across institutions in Malaysia, Hong Kong, UAE, and Australia. He holds a BA(Hons) in Accounting and Finance (Glamorgan University), MBA in Accounting & Finance (Charles Darwin University), and PhD from La Trobe University.
His research focuses on corporate governance, board diversity, audit fees, earnings management, blockchain applications, and regulatory environments. He has published textbooks and peer-reviewed articles, successfully supervising five PhD students in the past five years. He currently serves as Course Coordinator for Commerce programs and previously held roles including Academic Integrity Adviser and Graduate Research Coordinator.
Teaching expertise spans Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Corporate Reporting, and Advanced Financial Accounting. His recent publications explore capital structure dynamics, board diversity impacts on disclosures, and stock liquidity factors in emerging markets. His work frequently examines governance mechanisms in South Africa, Malaysia, and China.
