Professor Bai Xuelin is an Associate Professor of Chinese Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Queen’s University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science. She has taught Mandarin Chinese there since 1995, with prior appointments at Beijing Language and Culture University (China) and the University of Regina (Canada). Her research focuses on second language acquisition, Chinese pedagogy, and translation.
Education: B.A.H. equivalent in Chinese Linguistics and Literature from Nankai University (Tianjin, China, 1982).
Research Interests: Emphasizes teaching Chinese as a second language through practice-intensified, task-oriented methods addressing phonetics, character writing, and cultural communication. Highlights learner-centered approaches to engage diverse student backgrounds.
