Bahar İnce is a Professor at the Institute of Environmental Sciences, Boğaziçi University (Istanbul, Turkey). She holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (UK, 1994), an M.S. from the same institution (1990), and a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Middle East Technical University (Turkey, 1988). Her academic career includes roles as Associate Professor (1996–2002) and Assistant Professor (1995–1996) at Istanbul University and Boğaziçi University.
Her research focuses on anaerobic treatment processes, microbial ecology, and environmental biotechnology. Key areas include bioenergy systems, microbial products in bioreactors, and waste-to-energy conversion. Projects include bioaugmentation of lignolytic microbial communities in floodplain forests, optimization of anaerobic digestion via alkaline pretreatment, and microbial ecology studies of Salda Lake using metabarcoding.
Recent grants include projects funded by Boğaziçi University Research Fund (BAP), the Ministry of Environment and Urbanism, and TÜBİTAK. Her work emphasizes sustainable waste management and microbial resource utilization.
