Bahar İnce is a Professor in the Institute of Environmental Sciences at Bogazici University, Istanbul. She holds a PhD from the School of Civil Engineering at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (1994), with prior academic roles including Assistant Professor at Istanbul University (1995-1996) and Research Associate at the University of Newcastle (1991-1994).
Her research focuses on anaerobic treatment processes, microbial ecology, and bioenergy systems. She has led projects such as bioaugmentation of lignolytic microbial communities in İğneada Floodplain Forests and enhancing hydrolysis of lignocellulosic wastes via anaerobic digestion.
Key projects include:
- Metabarcoding analysis of Sald Lake microbial ecology (2021-2022)
- Metagenomic detection of waterborne pathogens (2020-2021)
Her work integrates microbial community dynamics with waste-to-energy applications, emphasizing sustainable bioprocess optimization and environmental biotechnology innovations.
