Ayşen Erdinçler is a Professor at the Institute of Environmental Sciences, Bogazici University, Istanbul. Her academic career spans over 25 years, beginning with her roles as Assistant Professor (1997-2002) and Associate Professor (2002-2008) at the same institution. She holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Duke University (1996), along with multiple master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Engineering from Middle East Technical University.
Her research focuses on wastewater sludge management, anaerobic treatment processes, biogas/biofuel production, and sustainable waste-to-energy solutions. Notable projects include biodiesel production from wastewater sludge, biogas optimization via anaerobic digestion, and heavy metal removal from sludge through bioleaching. She has secured grants from Turkey’s TÜBİTAK and Bogazici University’s BAP fund.
Erdinçler’s publications emphasize practical environmental solutions, such as enhancing anaerobic digestion efficiency and assessing lagoon water quality. Her work bridges technical innovation with regulatory frameworks, addressing global and regional challenges in wastewater management. She actively contributes to interdisciplinary research teams and has advised numerous graduate students in environmental engineering disciplines.
