Avishek Lahiri, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Schmidthorst College of Business, Bowling Green State University (2024–present). He holds a Ph.D. in Marketing (Strategy) from Georgia State University (2021), an MSc in International Management from ESADE Business School (2013), a CEMS dual degree from Richard Ivey School of Business (2013), an MBA in Marketing from IBS Business School (2010), and a BCom in Accountancy from Goenka College (2008).
His research focuses on platform business models (e.g., sharing economy, app stores, transportation networks) and frontline workers in technology-mediated environments. Key areas include AI-driven control systems, gig economy workforce dynamics, and governance challenges in digital platforms. He explores how AI monitoring and incentives impact frontline employees and customer interactions.
Publications include studies on ridesharing commission structures, organizational reputation in higher education, and strategic frameworks for sharing economy profitability. His work has appeared in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Industrial Marketing Management, and Journal of Business Research.
He received a $4,576 Charles A. William Scholarship for research on freelance orientation in labor platforms. Current projects include AI’s role in frontline principal-agent relationships and interorganizational governance in network economies.
Teaching focuses on Professional Selling, AI in Sales, and Marketing Strategy. Prior industry experience includes roles at Regalix Inc. (digital marketing) and 3M India (sales management), along with internships at Swiss Holidays AG and Philips Electronics.
