Amartya Lahiri is a Professor at the Vancouver School of Economics, University of British Columbia. His research spans Development Economics, International Economics, and Macroeconomics, with a focus on India's economic transformations over three decades.
He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park. His recent work examines caste convergence, urbanization disparities, inflation expectations, public sector banking, and global saving patterns.
Key research themes include structural transformation in emerging economies, monetary policy challenges in developing nations, and financial market segmentation effects. He teaches graduate courses like ECON 556: International Finance and undergraduate courses such as Introduction to Global Development and Understanding Globalization.
