Audrey Brunetaux is an Associate Professor of French and Italian at Colby College, specializing in 20th/21st-century French literature, culture, cinema, and trauma studies. Her research intersects with critical analyses of systemic racism, color-blindness, and intersectional discourses on race, gender, and sexuality in France.
Education
- Ph.D. and M.A. in French from Michigan State University
- M.A. and B.A. in French from the University of Poitiers, France
Research Interests
Her expertise spans contemporary French cinema (particularly women filmmakers), Holocaust narratives, Vichy France and the Shoah, Charlotte Delbo studies, decolonial theory, black feminisms, and French intersectional podcasts. Current projects examine systemic racism in French film, performance, visual arts, and new media, alongside co-editing special issues on post-racial utopias and disruptive podcasting narratives.
Teaching & Affiliation
Awarded the title of Associate Professor, she teaches courses ranging from intensive French language to advanced topics on French gastronomy, cinema, and cultural studies. She is based in Lovejoy Hall 315 at Colby College and serves on multiple academic committees and editorial collaborations.
