Astrid Geudens

Astrid Geudens is a researcher in language and reading didactics at the People and Well-being Research Group, Thomas More. Since 2006, she has focused on bridging scientific research with educational practice, particularly in early literacy and dyslexia. She holds a PhD in psycholinguistics from the University of Antwerp. Her work emphasizes effective strategies for language pathways, early childhood education, and reading didactics.

Research Focus: Astrid’s research addresses early reading development, dyslexia interventions, and multilingualism in educational settings. She explores how to support children with learning challenges (e.g., ADHD, ASD) through tailored educational methods and materials.

Professional Contributions: As a scientific advisor, she develops teaching methods and provides training for educators. She co-founded and directed Code, an expertise centre focused on language didactics and developmental challenges, producing guidelines and resources for schools and support staff.
