Dr. Astrid Breel serves as an Impact Research Fellow in the Research and Enterprise department at Bath Spa University, specializing in Performance Studies with a focus on participatory arts, audience meaning-making, and impact evaluation methodologies.
Her academic credentials include:

Her pioneering Emergent Value framework redefines how personal meaning is captured in live performance through participant-led, non-instrumental evaluation strategies. This interdisciplinary work bridges performance analysis, audience research, and practice-led methods to explore the ethics-aesthetics nexus in participatory contexts, emphasizing context-dependent agency and embedded reflection processes.
Current initiatives include the AHRC-funded Emergent Value Fellowship developing evaluation toolkits with Coney and Trinity Community Arts, the AHRC Impact Accelerator Account enhancing institutional impact culture, Telling Our Story co-creating cultural confidence metrics, and the Erasmus+ Codename: Seedling project addressing youth climate engagement through arts-based advocacy.
