Silvia Dibeltulo is a Senior Lecturer in Communication, Media and Culture at Oxford Brookes University, affiliated with the School of Education, Humanities and Languages. She holds a PhD in Film Studies from Trinity College Dublin. Her research focuses on screen representations of ethnicity and gender, film genre theory, cinema memory, and digital humanities, with a particular emphasis on the Italian film industry and audience studies. She co-leads the AHRC-funded project 'Women in Italian Film Production: Industrial Histories and Gendered Labour, 1945-1985,' challenging historical narratives by centering women's contributions to the industry.
Her teaching spans modules such as Ethnicity and the Media, Gender and Sexuality Subject to Culture, and Research Methods. She actively supervises PhD research on topics like cinema memory and diasporic identity. Silvia’s work bridges academic and community engagement, including participatory projects with older audiences to preserve cinematic heritage and foster intergenerational dialogue.
