Stephanie Pitts is an Honorary Professor in the School of Music at the University of Sheffield, UK. Her research focuses on musical participation, arts audiences, and lifelong learning, with a particular emphasis on the impact of music education and audience experiences in contemporary arts. She directs the Sheffield Performer and Audience Research Centre (SPARC) and led a major 30-month AHRC-funded project on understanding audiences across UK cities.
Research: Her work bridges music education, audience studies, and cultural policy. Key projects include exploring participatory music practices, equity in arts access, and longitudinal studies of educational outcomes. She has collaborated with arts organizations to analyze audience behavior in live performances and cultural consumption patterns.
