Assefaw Bariagaber, Ph.D., is a Professor in the School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University. He holds the distinction of being the first full professor in the School and served as its Founding Chair (2007–2013). His roles include academic leadership, research, and teaching in political science and international relations.

He has authored award-winning books and numerous articles on these topics, including Conflict and the Refugee Experience (2006), which received the Toyin Falola Award.
