Dr. Ashraf Ahmed Mohamed is a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Brunel University London. He holds a BSc, MEng, and PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Manchester and has previously served as a Lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast. His research focuses on integrating Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning into Environmental Engineering to address challenges related to coastal aquifers, groundwater hydrology, and climate change impacts.
Professionally, he is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), and Chartered Water and Environmental Manager (C.WEM). He serves as a member of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) accreditation panel, assessing CEng and CEnv applications.
Awarded grants exceeding £9 million from EU, EPSRC, Newton, and Innovate UK, his current project WE-ACT (€526,864, 2023–2026) involves developing machine learning models for water management in transboundary river basins in Central Asia. His research also explores digital infrastructures, stochastic modeling, and structural health of earthfill dams and levees.
