Ahmed Elmarakbi is Professor of Automotive Composites and Head of Subject (Mechanical Engineering) at Northumbria University, while also serving as Leader of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) research group. He holds a concurrent Visiting Professor position at Hunan University, China, focusing on vehicle lightweighting. With a 25-year career spanning Canada, Japan, the UK, and China, he has led multidisciplinary international projects and served as Founding Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Automotive Composites.

His recent publications emphasize hybrid composites, multiscale modeling, and environmental sensing applications.
Scientific Awards include the JSPS Fellowship, Newton Fund ODA Grant, FISITA Fellowship, and multiple NSERC and Ontario Graduate Scholarships. He has supervised PhD students like Islam Mohamed Hegazy Mohamed Ali and collaborated with industry leaders such as Airbus, BMW, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. His work bridges material synthesis, industrial manufacturing, and environmental safety through graphene innovations.
