Ashley Maynard is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Hawaii. Her work focuses on cultural processes of development, blending Jerome Bruner's theory of meaning-making with Beatrice and John Whiting's Ecocultural Theory. She has conducted long-term fieldwork in a Maya community in southern Mexico since 1995, examining sibling roles, childhood teaching practices, and the impact of cultural change on developmental environments.
