Dr. Ashleigh Androsoff is a Professor of History at the University of Saskatchewan, serving as Communications Chair and Chair of the History Department's Collaboratorium for Community-Engaged Research. She is an Elder of the Doukhobor Society of Saskatoon and a citizen of Métis Nation–Saskatchewan. Her research focuses on Western Canadian history, ethnic diversity, and Indigenous peoples, with particular attention to settler colonialism and gender roles. She has led projects such as the award-winning Doukhobor Living Book Project, which explored Doukhobor spiritual practices and cultural memory, and is revising her first book manuscript Spirit Wrestling: The 'Doukhobor Problem' in Russia and in Canada.
Her teaching emphasizes critical thinking, public engagement, and Indigenization of pedagogy. Courses taught include Indigenous Perspectives on Canadian History, Canadian Prairie History, and Gender and Sexuality in Western Canada. She has pioneered innovative projects like the 'Lest We Forget' initiative, blending historical research with public commemoration.
Award-winning scholar, Dr. Androsoff’s work bridges academic research and community engagement, addressing themes of cultural pluralism, nation-building, and historical memory. Her current projects include Stalwart Peasants and Their Stout Wives, examining Doukhobor gender norms in Canadian context.
