Arnold Hill

Prof. Arnold Hill is a Professor and Chair of Surgery at the RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, as well as Dean of Medical Programmes. He is affiliated with Beaumont Hospital and leads the National Breast Screening Programme (BreastCheck). His clinical expertise spans breast cancer, melanoma, and sarcoma, with research focusing on breast cancer transcriptional control and coregulatory proteins. He holds academic roles including Editor of the Irish Journal of Medical Science and leadership in the Society of Academic and Research Surgeons.

Education: MB, BCh, BAO (University College Dublin), MCh (UCD), and Fellowship from RCSI. His career includes training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, and postgraduate studies in surgical leadership.

Research interests include surgical oncology innovation, sustainability in healthcare, and infection control. Over 470 publications cover breast cancer therapeutics, surgical techniques, and healthcare policy. Awards include four teaching awards, and he leads grants on postoperative exercise and antibiotic protocols. He contributes to the RCSI’s Cancer Surgical Science and Practice research cluster and collaborates with national/international institutions.
