Arlene Kent-Wilkinson

Dr. Arlene Kent-Wilkinson is a Professor at the College of Nursing, University of Saskatchewan since 2002, specializing in mental health, forensic nursing, and Indigenous health education. She holds a PhD in Education Administration (2008, U of Saskatchewan), MN (1993, U of Calgary), BSN (1990, U of Victoria), and a nursing diploma (Sault Ste. Marie, 1971). With 50+ years of clinical practice and 30+ years of teaching, she pioneered global forensic nursing education and has supervised numerous MN/PhD students.

• Research Focus: Dementia in custodial populations, Indigenous health policies, forensic nursing pedagogy, and historical nursing artifacts like the Florence Nightingale Medicine Chest.
• Methodology: Qualitative and mixed-methods approaches.
• Grants: SHRF-funded dementia assessment project and SSHRC-funded historical research.

Her teaching includes courses on mental health integration, forensic nursing in secure environments, and Indigenous health policies. She has published over 50 papers and delivered 125+ presentations.
