Arlene Collins is a Part-Time Lecturer at The New School's Parsons School of Design, specializing in documentary photography and visual storytelling of remote cultures. She holds an MFA from Hunter College and has guest lectured internationally at institutions including the Istanbul Center of Photography and the Burmese Photographers Association. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, World Press Review, and Amerika Magazine.
Her expertise includes lighting techniques for challenging environments, night photography, and location-based environmental lighting. Arlene teaches courses such as Core Lab: Professional Practices, Analog Practices, Light Practices, and Location & Environmental Lighting across undergraduate and graduate programs at Parsons.
Recent professional activities include contributing photography to CNN and Travel & Leisure magazine, alongside ongoing work with the International Center of Photography and Maine Media Workshops. She maintains an active teaching schedule with courses in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters.
