Arifa Rahman is an Academic Fellow for teaching and research at the School of Education in the Faculty of Arts and Education at Charles Sturt University. With a strong academic background including a Bachelor of Education and Master's from the University of Dhaka, a second Master's from Flinders University as an Endeavour Scholarship recipient, and currently pursuing her PhD funded by Charles Sturt University and the Australian Government Research Training Program, she brings extensive expertise to her role.

Her research focuses on early childhood education, particularly examining inclusion through cultural-historical theoretical frameworks. She explores how play-based learning can promote transformative inclusion in early years settings, with a growing body of work analyzing cultural-historical approaches to educational equity. Her recent publications demonstrate a clear trajectory toward understanding how Vygotskian theories can inform contemporary inclusive education practices.
Her scholarly output shows significant growth in recent years, with 5 publications in 2024 alone, primarily focusing on cultural-historical approaches to inclusion in early childhood education. These works collectively examine how theoretical frameworks can be applied to create more inclusive learning environments, particularly through play-based approaches and cultural understanding.

As an educator, Rahman teaches multiple courses at Charles Sturt University including Critical Studies in Education and Practice, Programming Teaching and Learning in Inclusive Settings, Collaboration and Teamwork in the Inclusive School, Environmental Sustainability in Early Childhood, and Adolescent Learning and Development. She has received research grants from the Centre for Research Innovation and Transformation in Bangladesh, the Ministry of Social Welfare in Bangladesh, and the Fakir Memorial Foundation. She is actively involved with the Children's Voices Centre at CSU and the International Society for Cultural-historical and Activity Research (ISCAR).
