Arianne Lowe is a Lecturer in Animal and Veterinary Sciences at Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), specializing in Animal Welfare and Antimicrobial Resistance. She holds a PhD in Animal Welfare (SRUC) and a Master’s in Biomedical Science from Edinburgh Napier University (2017) and a Bachelor’s in Applied Animal Science (SRUC, 2015).
Her research focuses on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in agricultural environments, including its flow from livestock to humans and the environment. She also investigates Biomarkers for health diagnostics and sustainable agricultural practices. Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, as seen in projects funded by the Scottish Government and Teagasc.
Lowe leads the Biomarkers Laboratory at SRUC, managing facilities for Cytokine Analysis, Microsphere Technology, and Immunoassay Development. She has received the Gold Award in Sustainability (2019) for environmental impact contributions.
Key Projects (2022–2029):
- RESAS 22-27: Systems Understanding of AMR in Livestock Production (SRUC/University of Edinburgh)
- Biomarkers Analysis for Antimicrobial Stewardship (Teagasc)
Her work bridges veterinary science, environmental health, and policy to address global AMR challenges.
