Arianne Chernock is a Professor of History at Boston University and currently serves as Associate Dean of the Faculty for the Social Sciences. Her research focuses on modern British and European history, emphasizing gender, culture, politics, and monarchy. She holds a B.A. from Brown University and M.A./Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
Chernock’s work bridges academic scholarship and public engagement. Her acclaimed books include Men and the Making of Modern British Feminism (2010), which won the 2011 John Ben Snow Prize, and The Right to Rule and the Rights of Women: Queen Victoria and the Women’s Movement (2019). She has published in journals like Journal of British Studies, Victorian Studies, and Twentieth Century British History, and contributes to media outlets such as WBUR’s Cognoscenti.
