Ariadne Vromen is an Honorary Professor at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University (ANU), and currently serves as Head of the Division of Political and International Studies at the University of Glasgow. She holds a BSocSc (UNSW), MA (USYD), and PhD (UNSW). Previously, she was the Sir John Bunting Chair of Public Administration at ANU and Deputy Dean of Research at the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG), where she pioneered government-university research collaboration. She spent 21 years at the University of Sydney as a political sociology professor, focusing on citizen engagement, digital politics, and gender equality in future work.
Her research explores citizen engagement, digital advocacy, and gender dynamics in work. Notable projects include ARC-funded studies on gender equality in retail and legal sectors, and co-authored books on online petitions and storytelling in advocacy. Awards include the ANZSOG Distinguished Fellow (2025) and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences Australia. She previously served on the Australian Research Council’s College of Experts (2017–2020) and as APSA President.
Key grants include an ARC Linkage Project on gender equality in future work and a Discovery Project analyzing post-pandemic gender inequality. Her work emphasizes policy advocacy, digital campaigning, and youth political engagement. She advises on public sector reform and has published extensively on technology’s impact on labor markets and governance.
