April Eichmeier is an Assistant Professor in Emerging Media Education at the University of St. Thomas’s College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a PhD in Mass Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (with minors in Political Science and Educational Psychology), an MS in Agricultural Journalism from the same university, and a BA in Advertising from Iowa State University. Her research focuses on science communication, political communication, public opinion dynamics, survey and experimental methodologies, and the intersection of entertainment with scientific and technological policy debates.

Her scholarly work bridges science entertainment’s role in public engagement, media effects on information processing, and how partisan divides influence cognitive approaches to controversial scientific topics. She also explores religious figures’ impact on environmental discourse, such as Pope Francis’s influence on climate change narratives online. In Fall 2025, she teaches three courses: Research, Measurement, & Eval (MW/TR sections) and Advertising Media and Connections Planning, emphasizing research methodologies and strategic media planning for communication campaigns.
