Lulu Rodriguez is an Adjunct Professor in Agricultural Education and Studies at Iowa State University, concurrently serving as a Research Scientist IV and Global Programs Lead. She holds a Doctorate in Mass Communication and Agricultural Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master’s in Communication from Cornell University, and a Bachelor’s in Development Communication from the University of the Philippines.
Her research focuses on media framing of agricultural trade disputes, particularly the US-China trade war’s impact on farmers, and the intersection of communication strategies with public perception. She explores how visual and textual media influence stakeholder attitudes toward policy, biotechnology, and public health initiatives.
Recent work analyzes farmers’ reactions to geopolitical tensions, vaccine campaign visual design across cultures, and the role of mood in health decision-making. Her studies often bridge communication theory with applied agricultural and development contexts.
Lulu advises on global agricultural communication programs and has contributed to frameworks for effective risk communication in cross-cultural settings. Her expertise spans media bias analysis, agricultural policy advocacy, and the psychological underpinnings of consumer behavior.
