Anya Rader Wallack is a Professor of the Practice in the Department of Health Services, Policy and Practice at Brown University’s School of Public Health. She serves as Administrative Director of the Advance-RI Clinical Translational Research (CTR) Program at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine. Her career spans academia, state government, and healthcare organizations, with leadership roles in health policy and public health systems.
- Education: PhD in Social Policy from Brandeis University (2007)
Her research focuses on healthcare policy implementation, Medicaid systems, and clinical translational research. She has extensive experience in state-level health reform, including directing Rhode Island’s HealthSource RI exchange and serving as Medicaid Director and Acting Secretary of Health and Human Services. In Vermont, she chaired the Green Mountain Care Board and acted as Special Assistant for Health Reform.
At Brown, she leads health policy courses in the Executive Master’s in Healthcare Leadership Program and frequently lectures in public health courses. Her work bridges academic research with practical healthcare governance, emphasizing systems-level innovation and policy advocacy.
