Dr. Anushree Chaitanya Shirali is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Section of Nephrology at the Yale School of Medicine. She serves as the Director of the Onco-Nephrology Program, focusing on kidney dysfunction in cancer patients undergoing immunotherapy or chemotherapy. Her clinical expertise includes managing adverse effects of cancer treatments, particularly those involving immune checkpoint inhibitors. She is also a Medical Director at DaVita’s dialysis units.
Education & Training: MD from New York Medical College (2003), BS in Physiology from UC Davis (1997). Completed residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Hospital (2006) and Nephrology fellowship at Yale (2007). Participated in the Yale Medicine Advanced Leaders Program (2024).
Research Interests: Dr. Shirali’s work centers on kidney disease in cancer patients, immune checkpoint inhibitor nephrotoxicity, and optimizing drug dosing in renal impairment. She contributed to the American Society of Nephrology’s Onco-Nephrology Core Curriculum and serves on editorial boards for Journal of Onco-Nephrology and American Journal of Kidney Diseases.
