Prof. Mehmet Kanbay is a nephrology specialist currently affiliated with Koç University School of Medicine. He has held academic positions at Istanbul Medeniyet University, Kayseri Teaching and Research Hospital, Gülhane Military Medical Academy, and completed clinical nephrology training at Yale University School of Medicine (2007-2008) under an International Society of Nephrology fellowship.

His research focuses on nephrology, spanning hypertension, kidney transplantation, cardiovascular complications of renal disease, and chronic kidney disease-mineral bone disorder (CKD-MBD). He has published over 360 international articles and serves as section editor for the Clinical Kidney Journal, the official journal of the European Renal Association.
Scientific awards include the prestigious TÜBİTAK Science Encouragement Award (2014) and distinguished fellowships from major nephrology societies (FERA, FASN, FISN). He also holds leadership roles in the European Society of Nephrology's executive boards and working groups.
