Fatih Mehmet Erdur serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine Sciences at Gaziantep University School of Medicine. His academic career spans multiple Turkish institutions including Necmettin Erbakan University, Yuzuncu Yıl University, and Istanbul University's Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine. He completed his medical education at Istanbul University in 2001, followed by specialization in Internal Medicine and Nephrology through residencies at Istanbul University (2002-2009), Yuzuncu Yıl University (2010-2013), and Necmettin Erbakan University (2013-2014).
- Medical Degree: Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine (1995-2001)
- Internal Medicine Specialization: Istanbul University (2002-2009)
- Nephrology Subspecialization: Yuzuncu Yıl University (2010-2013)
- Nephrology Fellowship: Necmettin Erbakan University (2013-2014)
Dr. Erdur's research focuses on nephrology with particular emphasis on hemodialysis complications, kidney transplantation outcomes, cardiovascular manifestations in renal disease, and molecular mechanisms in diabetic nephropathy. His work bridges clinical practice with molecular investigations into oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, and genetic factors affecting renal outcomes. He has contributed significantly to understanding crush syndrome in earthquake victims, a critical area given Turkey's seismic activity.
His publication portfolio shows consistent research output with recent work concentrating on immunologic risk in transplantation, cognitive function in dialysis patients, and biomarkers for predicting complications. The research demonstrates a clear trajectory from basic science investigations toward clinically applicable findings that improve patient management in renal care.
Dr. Erdur has supervised multiple graduate theses focusing on high-immunologic-risk transplantation, bone loss in transplant recipients, and staging systems for myeloma-related kidney failure. His educational contributions include participation in numerous national and international nephrology conferences and specialized training programs including the European Renal Association congress and Turkish Nephrology Association winter schools.
Professional affiliations include membership in the Turkish Nephrology Association (since 2014), European Renal Association-European Dialysis and Transplant Association (since 2014), and Turkish Medical Association (since 2002). His clinical experience spans nephrology positions at Gaziantep Dr. Ersin Arslan Training and Research Hospital (2017-2021), Bitlis State Hospital (2014-2017), and Yüksekova State Hospital (2009-2010).
