Gülçin Kantarcı

Prof. Gülçin Kantarcı is a Professor of Internal Medicine at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey, where she has served since 2007. She held dual administrative roles as Head of the Department of Internal Medicine (2015) and Department Chair (2007), with clinical expertise centered in Nephrology.

Her research comprehensively addresses Nephrology with emphasis on Chronic Kidney Disease progression, Acute Kidney Injury mechanisms, Glomerular disorders, hypertension management, and fluid/electrolyte imbalances. She has pioneered work on dialysis complications, renal transplantation outcomes, and systemic disease impacts on kidney function, with particular focus on cardiovascular risk stratification in renal patients and innovative pharmacological approaches for electrolyte disorders.

Analysis of her 2010-2014 publications reveals strong thematic continuity in geriatric nephrology (hip fracture/AKI), genetic polymorphisms in glomerular disease, and translational models of endotoxemia. Her work bridges clinical epidemiology (metabolic syndrome in CKD) with experimental therapeutics (erythropoietin in sepsis), while maintaining practical focus on dialysis access complications and transplant patient management.

She has supervised one master's thesis (Burcu, 2008) on body image perception in dialysis/transplant patients. Prior hospital appointments include nephrologist at Istanbul Göztepe Training and Research Hospital (2001) and roles at Marmara University and Ministry of Health facilities. She maintains active membership in the Turkish Nephrology Association since 1998.
