Dr. Anuschka Schmitt is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the Department of Management, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She holds a PhD from the University of St. Gallen and conducted research at Harvard University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Her expertise spans human-AI interaction, work augmentation, and conversational AI systems, utilizing experimental methods and digital trace analysis. Prior to academia, she worked in data analytics startups in Paris and product management roles across Europe.
Dr. Schmitt’s education includes a PhD in Information Management from University of St. Gallen, M.Sc. in Rotterdam School of Management, a double Master’s from HEC Paris, and a B.Sc. from Maastricht University. Her research focuses on how AI systems augment human work and decision-making, particularly through conversational AI and experimental methodologies.
Her research interests emphasize AI’s role in enhancing human capabilities, with key contributions in trust dynamics in conversational AI, voice-based interfaces, and process mining in education. Recent work explores human-AI hybrid systems in sales forecasting and generative AI’s impact on occupational identity.
Notable awards include Top 25% Paper at AIS AMCIS 2023 and Best Paper in Track at ICIS 2022. She actively reviews for top journals and conferences, including Journal of the Association of Information Systems and ACM CHI. Her professional service roles include workshop organizing at ACM IUI 2024 and track editing for ECIS 2025.
Teaching experience includes mentoring in digital business transformation and research industry ventures at the University of St. Gallen. She balances academic rigor with industry insights through roles in startups and consultancy across Berlin, Paris, and Düsseldorf.
