Antonio Patti

Antonio Patti is an Associate Professor in the School of Chemistry at Monash University. His research focuses on organic chemistry, particularly the chemistry of soil organic matter, humic substances, and green chemistry applications. He explores organic amendments like composts and investigates how environmental conditions influence soil organic matter dynamics. His work aims to improve soil fertility management and carbon sequestration through sustainable practices.

He leads and collaborates on projects such as the Circular Economy Accelerator for Bio-transforming Organics, focusing on waste valorization, and the Microfibrillated Protein Fibres initiative. His research also extends to catalytic processes for transforming natural organic matter and developing eco-friendly materials like biodegradable mulches and photo-responsive polymers.

Patti’s recent publications highlight advancements in slow-release fertilizers, biodegradable materials, and arsenic removal technologies. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to sustainable agriculture and climate action.
