Antonio Calcagno is a Full Professor of Philosophy at the University of Western Ontario, currently on sabbatical. He holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Toronto (1992), an MA from the University of Louvain, Belgium (1995), and a PhD from the University of Guelph (2004). His research focuses on contemporary European Philosophy, Medieval and Renaissance thought, and Social and Political Theory. Current work explores political impasse as a generative moment for selfhood and phenomenological analyses of psyche and personhood through figures like Edith Stein and Gerda Walther.
Key publications include *On Political Impasse* (2022) and *Lived Experience from the Inside Out* (2014, award-winning). He has edited volumes on phenomenology, biopolitics, and intercultural philosophy. His forthcoming monograph, *The Life That Is Not My Own*, addresses microsources of selfhood. Awards include the Edward Goodwin Ballard Book Prize (2014).
