Robert Nonomura is a part-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at The University of Western Ontario (Faculty of Social Science). His work focuses on critical sociology, gender-based violence, and trauma-informed research ethics. He collaborates with the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children and the Alliance of Canadian Research Centres on Gender-Based Violence. Nonomura holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Western University.
His research emphasizes ethical approaches to studying violence survivors, interdisciplinary knowledge mobilization, and addressing structural inequalities in gender-based violence. He contributes to public sociology through accessible resources like the Learning Network and policy-informed briefs for family law contexts.
Key applied projects include analyzing coercive control dynamics in families, rural GBV challenges, and survivor perspectives in family courts. His publications bridge academic research with practical guidance for practitioners and policymakers.
