Antonija Buljan is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Finance, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb, Croatia. She joined the faculty in 2016 and teaches Public Finance, Fiscal Policy, and Financing Social Activities in both integrated undergraduate/graduate and English-language undergraduate programs.
Education:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Faculty of Economics, University of Split
- Ph.D. (2020) from Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb with summa cum laude distinction
Research Focus: Her work centers on public finance and fiscal policy, with special attention to VAT rate changes, public expenditure efficiency, and the sustainability of public finances in Croatia. She has contributed to research on local government optimization and monetary policy dynamics in Central/Eastern Europe.
Scientific Contributions:
- Awarded the Dr. Pero Jurković award (2020) for her dissertation “The Impact of Changes in VAT Rates on Consumer Prices in the Republic of Croatia”
- Active participant in scientific conferences and workshops
- Collaborates on Croatian Science Foundation projects including “Tax Policy and Fiscal Consolidation in Croatia” and “The Sustainability of Public Finances on the Path to Monetary Union”
