Antoni Pons Biescas

Dr. Antoni Pons Biescas is a full Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), leading the Physical Activity Sciences Laboratory. He specializes in the intersection of nutrition, oxidative stress, and exercise physiology. His research focuses on nutritional interventions (e.g., Mediterranean diet), antioxidant mechanisms, and metabolic disorders like metabolic syndrome. He has directed numerous competitive research projects including the PREDIMED-DM study and European Commission-funded initiatives. He teaches advanced courses on sports nutrition, biochemical interactions, and food science at both undergraduate and master’s levels.
