Anti Randviir is a Senior Research Fellow in Semiotics at the University of Tartu’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities, within the Department of Semiotics. He holds a Ph.D. in Semiotics and Culturology (2004) and has been affiliated with the University of Tartu since 1994, progressing through roles such as Assistant, Researcher, and Programme Director. His research focuses on sociosemiotics, spatial semiosis, and cultural analysis, with notable contributions to semiotic theory and interdisciplinary methodologies.
Education: B.A. and M.A. in Semiotics and Culturology from Tartu University (1997, 1999), followed by doctoral studies (2004). Awards include multiple Estonian Academy of Sciences awards and CIMO scholarships, recognizing his work on cultural space and semiotic analysis.
Research interests span sociosemiotics, spatial semiotics, and interdisciplinarity, with a focus on semiotic modeling and cultural analysis. He has led projects like 'Space: The Concept and Object in Interdisciplinary Perspective' and contributed to international collaborations such as the Imatra International Semiotics Institute. His publications explore semiotic terminology, sociosemiotic frameworks, and cultural theory.
Awards highlight his impactful contributions, including the 2002 CIMO scholarship and 1999 Estonian Academy of Sciences award for semiotic analysis. Administrative roles include Programme Director and leadership in the Estonian Semiotics Association (1999–2003).
