Professor Anthony Williams is a faculty member at the University of Adelaide, holding a position in the School of Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences within the Department of Physics. He serves as Deputy Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics (CDMPP) and previously led the Adelaide Node of this Centre. His research focuses on theoretical particle physics, computational physics, and dark matter detection, with significant contributions to projects like the SABRE experiment and leadership in eResearch initiatives such as the South Australian Partnership for Advanced Computing (SAPAC) and the Australian Research Collaboration Service (ARCS).
He holds prestigious awards including the Boas Medal (2001) and Fellowships from the Australian Institute of Physics (1992) and the American Physical Society (2002). His textbook Introduction to Quantum Field Theory (Cambridge University Press, 2022) is highly regarded in the field. His work spans quantum chromodynamics, lattice gauge theory, and the study of fundamental symmetries, with over 11,000 citations and an h-index of 58.
Key affiliations include the ARC CDMPP, the former ARC Centre of Excellence for Particle Physics at the Terascale (CoEPP), and the Special Research Centre for the Subatomic Structure of Matter (CSSM). His research also intersects with advanced computing, including early contributions to SABRENet and the Australian Access Federation.
