Cedric Simenel

Cedric Simenel is a Professor and Head of the Department of Fundamental & Theoretical Physics at the Australian National University (ANU). He holds a MSc from Paris and PhD/Habilitation from Caen, France. His research focuses on nuclear structure calculations, fission dynamics, heavy ion collisions, and dark matter detection. Key projects include the SABRE dark matter detector and studies on superheavy element creation. He leads the ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics and has supervised numerous research projects. His work involves quantum tunneling, shell effects in fission, and fusion-fission mechanisms. Collaborations span global institutions, and he actively participates in physics summer schools and workshops.

Research interests include nuclear reactions, quasifission dynamics, and particle astrophysics. Recent articles explore neutrino-nucleus scattering, actinide reactions, and fusion barriers. He has over 165 publications and 8 funded projects, with a strong emphasis on theoretical and computational nuclear physics.
