Greg Lane is a Professor in the Department of Nuclear Physics & Accelerator Applications at the Australian National University (ANU). He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours I) and a Doctor of Philosophy, both from ANU. His research focuses on nuclear structure studies using gamma-ray and electron spectroscopy, direct detection of WIMP dark matter, and development of advanced nuclear detectors. He supervises research students and is actively involved in collaborative projects such as SABRE and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science (Honours I), ANU
- Doctor of Philosophy, ANU
Research interests span nuclear astrophysics, isomer decay studies, and detector technology. His recent work explores high-spin isomers, directional neutrino detection, and cosmogenic activation effects. Key collaborations include international teams at facilities like GSI and the Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory. He leads projects on dark matter detection (SABRE South) and nuclear structure studies using advanced spectroscopic techniques.
Grants and Projects:
- ARC Training Centre for Radiation Innovation (2024–2028)
- Directional Neutron Detection (2024–2026)
- Isomer-Power Research (2023–2027)
Labs/Teams: Involved with the SABRE collaboration and ANU Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility. His work includes development of detectors like the CYGνS gas time projection chamber and the CLARION2-TRINITY array.
