معرفی
Dr. Theresa Fruth is a Lecturer in the School of Physics at The University of Sydney since October 2022. Her research focuses on experimental astroparticle physics, particularly dark matter direct detection. She is a key member of the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) collaboration and leads Sydney's involvement in the SABRE South experiment at the Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory. Prior to Sydney, she conducted postdoctoral research at University College London (UCL) on the LZ experiment.
Education: DPhil (PhD) in Physics from the University of Oxford (2019), specializing in monitoring sensors and photomultiplier tube (PMT) studies for LZ. Current projects include advancing detector technologies for next-generation dark matter searches and analyzing LZ's first science results.
Research Interests: Dark Matter composition and detection via WIMPs, cosmological implications of dark matter, and low-background experimental techniques. She contributes to both international collaborations (LZ, SABRE) and local initiatives like the Sydney Environment Institute and the University of Sydney Nano Institute.
Grants: Secured funding for photosensor testing (2024) and simulation development for xenon-based detectors (2023). Her work bridges fundamental physics with technological innovation in particle detection.
Labs/Teams: Coordinates Sydney's LZ team and SABRE South development group. Mentors students in detector design and data analysis, including one current PhD student (Sharry) focused on SABRE's background modeling.
