Dr. Anthony Laverty serves as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Primary Care & Public Health within Imperial College London's Faculty of Medicine, where he also co-directs the Masters in Public Health programme and leads the Public Health Policy Evaluation Unit. His work bridges academic research and policy implementation across multiple public health domains.

Research Interests: Dr. Laverty specializes in quantitative and quasi-experimental evaluation of public health interventions, with dual expertise in transport-health systems (including Clean Air Zones, Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, and vehicle electrification impacts) and tobacco control policy (youth smoking trends, e-cigarette use, and global taxation effects). His work consistently examines health inequalities through social determinants frameworks, recently expanding into digital health access and political determinants of health outcomes.
Current projects include CRUK-funded tobacco research, WHO/UNDP policy brief development on child health, and supervision of PhD studies examining NHS App inequalities, populist politics-health relationships, and social care funding impacts. He actively contributes to road safety evaluations and tobacco taxation analyses with significant policy implications.
As Co-Director of Imperial's Masters in Public Health programme, he leads modules on commercial determinants of health and population health strategies while maintaining active involvement in the Public Health Policy Evaluation Unit's research agenda across transport, tobacco, and health equity domains.
