Anthony Booker is a Senior Lecturer in Chinese Herbal Medicine and Medicinal Plant Science at the University of Westminster's Department of Life Sciences. He holds a PhD in Ethnopharmacy and Pharmacognosy from University College London, where his thesis examined Curcuma longa (Turmeric) value chains and their impact on product quality and farmer livelihoods.
His research investigates herbal medicine quality assurance, adulteration detection, and ethnopharmacology using plant metabolomics. Current projects include the safety of Chinese herbal medicines in the UK, pharmacology of Echinacea purpurea, and traditional Pakistani medicinal plants. Booker serves as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Ethnopharmacology and holds memberships with the British Pharmacopoeia expert advisory group, Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine, Royal Society of Chemistry, and Linnean Society.
