Dr. Annie Blanchette is an Associate Lecturer at the University of Plymouth's School of Art, Design and Architecture (ADA). Her research focuses on consumer culture, gender, body studies, identity, nostalgia, and design, with an emphasis on embodiment, sensory experiences, sustainability, care, and inclusivity. She holds a PhD in Management/Marketing from the University of Exeter (2015), an M.Sc. in Consumer Research from HEC Montréal (2010), and a BA in Marketing, Advertising, and Individualized Studies from the University of Montreal (2008).
Blanchette has served as a Visiting Fellow at the i-DAT Open Research Lab (University of Plymouth since 2020), Research Fellow in Data for the South West Creative Technologies Network (2020), and Resident at Kaleider Studios (2019–2022). She has also reviewed for journals like the Journal of Marketing Management and conferences such as the Consumer Culture Theory Conference.
Her professional experience includes teaching marketing research, digital marketing, and consumer behavior at institutions like the University of Exeter Business School, NEOMA Business School, Stockholm University, and HEC Montréal. Prior to academia, she worked as a strategic and creative marketing consultant.
Blanchette is dedicated to interdisciplinary collaboration, reflected in her roles with creative technology networks and her work bridging design, art, and consumer behavior research.
