Dr. Annette Kroen is a Senior Research Fellow at RMIT University's Centre for Urban Research, affiliated with the Research & Innovation Capability department. Her work focuses on urban and regional planning, particularly in outer suburban development, metropolitan governance, and the integration of transport and land use. She has collaborated with government agencies, NGOs, and developers on projects addressing disaster management, resilience planning, and sustainable city strategies. Annette's research explores topics such as social connectedness in growth areas, infrastructure investment impacts, and climate resilience in urban systems. Her recent work includes evaluating transport policies, analyzing housing stress in urban contexts, and advancing smart city initiatives in Vietnam and other regions.
Education and professional experience include roles as a transport policy analyst in the Victorian State Government and as a private-sector consultant. She holds expertise in community engagement methodologies and has contributed to policy frameworks for urban planning and disaster preparedness globally.
