Professor Andrew Butt is an academic and researcher specializing in sustainability, urban planning, and rural-regional development at RMIT University. He serves as the Associate Dean of Sustainability and Urban Planning within the School of Global, Urban and Social Studies (GUSS) and is affiliated with the Centre for Urban Research (CUR). His work spans over 30 years in planning practice, research, and education, focusing on land use change, peri-urban development, and food systems. He has led industry-funded projects with government agencies on rural planning and regional development, emphasizing policy analysis and demographic trends.
His research interests include peri-urbanization, rural governance, and planning practice innovation.
