Joe Hurley is a Professor in the School of Global, Urban and Social Studies (GUSS) at RMIT University, with affiliations to the Centre for Urban Research and the Post Carbon Research Centre. His expertise lies in urban planning, sustainability, and governance, focusing on policy impacts on sustainable urban development. He leads research projects funded by the Australian Research Council, Victorian Department of Planning, and AURIN. Teaching areas include Urban Planning Research, Strategic Urban Planning, and Global Study Tours.
Research interests span urban sustainability, governance mechanisms, and the interface between research and practice.
