Anne Röthel

Prof. Dr. Anne Röthel is a full Professor at Bucerius Law School, where she has held the Chair for Civil Law, European and International Private Law since 2004. She was appointed Director of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in 2024 while retaining her professorship. Her research focuses on family law, inheritance law, bodily self-determination, and the intersection of private/public law through comparative and interdisciplinary frameworks.
